This is my first project using substance designer/painter. Used an old photograph of a propane fireplace table decoration as the starting point. From there, I used Photoshop to clean up the image by cropping and straightening the image, removing traces of the metal burner under the rocks, and other small touch-ups. From there I brought it into substance designer where I can extract layer information, such as height, roughness, normal, etc. and add other parameters to be customizable and to enhance the overall look. Finally, the material is brought into Substance painter where the scene is set up, the parameters are tweaked and the image is rendered.
This is currently set up where if it wanted to be used in a setting like Unreal Engine or other engine, it can as all textures are 2048x2048 and has all textures needed for the UE4 rendering pipeline.
